What is a Salvage Title in Pennsylvania?

Like many other states, a salvage title in Pennsylvania means that the vehicle has been reported to the DMV to be a total loss, wrecked, or damaged to the point where it is no longer roadworthy. 

Pennsylvania salvage title cars cannot be driven until they have been repaired and inspected. 

How to Get a Salvage Title Cleared in Pennsylvania

To re-register and legally operate a previously salvage vehicle in Pennsylvania, you’ll need to apply for a reconstructed title. 

The vehicle will need to pass an enhanced safety inspection to ensure the vehicle is fit for road use again. 

You’ll need to be prepared with the following documentation:

  • A completed Application For Reconstructed, Specially Constructed, Collectible, Modified, Flood, Recovered Theft Vehicles and Street Rods (Form MV-426B). 
  • Proof of ownership of the vehicle (salvage certificate of title).
