What is a Salvage Title in Wyoming?
Like many other states, a salvage title in Wyoming means that the vehicle has been reported to the DMV to be a total loss, wrecked, or damaged to the point where it is no longer roadworthy.
A vehicle is considered salvage in Wyoming if estimated repairs exceed 75% of the actual retail cash value.
Wyoming salvage title cars cannot be driven until they have been repaired and inspected.
How to Get a Salvage Title Cleared in Wyoming
To apply for a rebuilt salvage title and decal, you’ll need to visit your local county clerk office to obtain a salvage title.
Once the repairs have been made, you’ll need to:
- Send a copy of your salvage title.
- Complete the Application for Rebuilt Salvage Vehicle Decal: https://www.dot.state.wy.us/files/live/sites/wydot/files/shared/Motor%20Vehicle%20Services/MV-600%20REBUILT%20DECAL%20APPLICATION%2010-21.pdf
- Submit a photo of the repaired vehicle and any necessary documentation for parts and labor.
- Mail the application to the address on the form.
Once your application has been process, you’ll receive a salvage decal which will need to be placed:
- On the driver’s side door jamb (for cars).
- On the fork opposite the VIN (for motorcycles).
You’ll also need to complete a Certification of Correct VIN Number inspection with a law enforcement officer.
Register a Salvage Title Car in Wyoming
Once you’ve completed the necessary inspections, visit your local county clerk’s office to submit the documentation, paperwork, and fees to re-title and re-register your vehicle.
